Around the World

Italy’s Festa Della Musica began in 1985, shortly after the founding of France’s FĂȘte de la Musique. But it’s only in the last few years that it has grown to its current enormous size: 8,000+ performances across 700 cities in 2018 (up from “just” 85 participating cities in 2015), with musical events on June 21 taking place in the country’s 22 airports, 9 rail stations, 46 prisons, 92 official cultural sites, and hundreds of Carrefour grocery stores, just to name a few.

Countless cultural partners, city governments, music instrument associations, and national ministries contribute to bringing the event to life on this massive scale.
