About

Make Music Day is a FREE celebration of music that takes place in cities around the world, on June 21st. Every kind of musician – young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion – pours onto streets, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers.

Last year, over 800 cities around the world had citywide music celebrations on June 21st.

This year Asheville will join hundreds of cities around the globe as we mark the beginning of summer with Make Music Asheville. The event is an all-ages, all inclusive celebration of music that will be held at locations all around Asheville. Throughout the day, you may hear music being performed on a sidewalk, a residential porch, the steps of a church, a parking lot, parks, or even at a public place of business. All are welcome to participate – no experience necessary! Join a diverse community of musicians and help fill every neighborhood with music.

Make Music Asheville is a celebration of music and everyone’s innate ability to make it, from amateurs to professionals.

On June 21st, we’re planning to fill Asheville with as much free and fun music as possible. From parks and parking lots to sidewalks, store-fronts, and stoops, anywhere in the city can be a backdrop for music on Make Music Day.

We’re looking for Artists to perform and Venues to host.
