Iowa City Sousapalooza

Since 2011, Make Music has pioneered the “Sousapalooza” – an invitation for brass, wind and percussion players to come together and sightread music by The March King, John Philip Sousa. Iowa City Sousapalooza will be June 21st at 7:00pm on the East/Clinton Street side of the Old Capitol Building (21 N Clinton St, Iowa City, IA 52242). Download the music, bring your horn, a chair, a music stand and join the band! No fees, no rehearsals – just fun!

Since 2017, Iowa City Sousapalooza has been growing in size and audience reach. This event has been connecting musicians from high school age to retirees, from near and far, and from various walks of life.

In the event of inclement evening weather, watch this web page and your e-mail for an update the afternoon of June 21st. The rain site will be in the Voxman Music Building (93 E. Burlington St.) Go to the second floor. If the event is indoors, you do not need to bring a chair or a music stand.
