Mass Appeal, part of Make Music Day, brings together thousands of musicians - of all levels and ages - to make music in large, single-instrument groups. The following free events, open to all, will take place on June 21, 2020.
Rob Smooth is a Hip Hop artist and producer from Chicago and a native of the Englewood community. He is a writer, performer, composer and audio engineer. He is a member of a group, King Drive, which is a duo that features his brother, JD. The duo recently released a classic LP entitled, "The World Is Ours", which is currently available on all major music streaming services (Apple Music, Tidal, Spotify). He is also involved with community building through his youth based audio production program called MICAPP (Made In Chicago Audio Production Program). The MICAPP's mission is to empower youth (11-15) and young adults (16-24) to provide the proper tools, cultural history, and knowledge, that will allow them to connect and share their passion through the channel of music. This program aims to inspire youth by using sound production as a creative form of expression. The clients will use cutting edge tools to create hip hop music on portable workstations provided by MICAPP.
