Make Music Muskogee

About

Make Music Muskogee is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts a music celebration day in Muskogee, Oklahoma, held annually on June 21, the first day of summer!  A day of making music takes place throughout the town on the summer solstice. This local event is part of Make Music Day, held worldwide annually on June 21.  It started in France in 1982 and has spread to more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries.  This day of free, live music performances is open to musicians of all ages, abilities, cultures, and genres.  It is a day for unity in musical celebration and community outreach. The day’s grand finale goal is a huge group performance of “Okie from Muskogee” or “Oklahoma.”  A newer initiative, Make Music Winter, has now become a popular event on December 21, the winter solstice.
