In celebration of Make Music Day 2018, leading music notation software company MakeMusic hosted a composition contest for young composers, aged 13-21, to write short pieces for wind band. Noted composers Brian Balmages, Jodie Blackshaw, Michael Markowski, and Omar Thomas served as judges.
The two winners – Adrian B. Sims of Baltimore and Louis A. Josephson of Princeton Junction (NJ) – will have their respective pieces, Force Field and Galliard Overture, performed live in Cleveland, Minneapolis-St. Paul and other cities on Make Music Day. The winning composers will also receive a free copy of Finale v25 and other prizes.
