Himalayan singing bowls meet the viola
I am a violist and composer from Brooklyn, NY, with an interest in acoustic improvisation and antique Tibetan singing bowls. The bowls, which are made primarily of brass, range from 200 years old to contemporary and encompass a variety of sounds.
Singing bowls have been used in meditation and sound baths, but they are seldom used in Western music. This set at Cobble Hill Park will include short interludes of viola melody. I invite you to relax and unwind this Friday evening to some quiet and nurturing sounds.
