Mariachi Azteca
Now in its 42nd year of existence, serenading the Bay Area since 1981, it comes as no surprise that Mariachi Azteca has earned the reputation as Northern California’s finest mariachi. Under the direction of Juan Francisco “Pato” Diaz, Mariachi Azteca has shared the stage with some of Mexico’s greatest Mariachi groups and artists including: Mariachi Vargas De Tecalitlán, Mariachi Cobre and Juan Gabriél. Some members have served as instructors in various Bay Area schools and universities over the past 30 years for different Mariachi Programs including San Jose State, Stanford University, UC Santa Cruz, San Jose High Academy and Lincoln High School. The first mariachi youth program in San Jose was founded by Pato’s wife, Barbara Perez-Diaz in 1992 at Hoover Middle School. Comprised of accomplished musicians from Mexico and the U.S Mariachi Azteca continues to delight their audience with their performances. Toda Una Tradición en San Jose!
