On June 21, 2023 we had 40 registered musicians participate
In Dec 2023 we the joined the National Make Music Alliance
On June 21, 2024 we had 156 registered musicians participate and facilitate 18 stages, venues, and businesses hosting music- plus a main stage with members from Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Heart, BB King, Portlandia and more.

Make Music Aberdeen is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across the city.

Held annually on June 21, Make Music Day is part of the international Fête de la Musique, taking place in 1,000 cities across 120 countries. The daylong, musical free-for-all celebrates music in all its forms, encouraging people to band together and play in free public concerts. This year, more than 100 U.S. cities are organizing Make Music Day celebrations, encompassing thousands of concerts nationwide. In collaboration with the Downtown Aberdeen Association, Make Music Aberdeen officially launched in 2023! In 2023 Aberdeen joined the Make Music Alliance along with other chapters around the world!

This will be an all day FAMILY FRIENDLY outdoor event on June 21st in Downtown Aberdeen. Aberdeen area restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, and businesses will be open and ready to serve you! Use the DISTRX App for a list of local places to shop, drink and eat.

You don’t need to be a musician to join in on the fun, come with friends, come with family, come as you are! We’re planning activities through the day, special guests, live performers, and our Come as you Are live group event. And of course, anyone wanting to celebrate music all day!

Calling all singers, dancers, guitarists, violinists, saxophone players, choirs, bands, and anyone else who wants to come make, share, teach, or learn about music! We hope to fill the street with performers and music lovers. Use the participant sign-up form linked below to let us know you’ll be there and what we can do to help you shine.

World Music Day is a Showcase and a place to meet others and have fun!

Unplugged musicians can play wherever or when ever they would like and move to new locations. Most perform on the sidewalks and in the past played several times- some played up to 7 hours.

Bands should plan to bring their own PA’s, unless pre-arranged. Some businesses have stages others may only provide power. If on a stage bands should plan on a 2 hour set including setup and take down in order to give other bands a chance unless you are the last band or headliner.

Paying Gigs are not a normal part of this event.

All performers who check-in at our booth on the day of the event are eligible for a ticket to have a chance to win this Gibson Les Paul (no purchase or fees necessary)!
