This year’s celebration will include both onsite music and a virtual approach to encourage all people, of all musical abilities, to celebrate the joy of making music. A number of special events will be hosted by Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm and around the world. Information about how to participate in events like Bash the Trash, 25×12 online lessons, Virtual Shower Singing can be found below.
25×12 Live Online Lessons
Make Music Day is the perfect opportunity to shake the dust off your instrument and start playing again, or to pick up an instrument for the first time. This June 21, music teachers from around the world will offer 12 hours of free, online group lessons for 25 different instruments, at a range of levels from beginning to advanced. Jump around to sample a range of instruments, or binge on 12 straight hours of your favorite.
Virtual Shower Singing
You read that correctly! It’s time to release your inner diva with Virtual Shower Singing. It’s easy to participate. Share your vocals with us on or before Make Music Day. Details on how to show us your talent is HERE.
Live from Home Challenge
In partnership with Make Music Australia Make Music China, and the Make Music Alliance we invite everyone to post a musical performance from home on June 21, and tag three friends to challenge them to do the same. More info HERE.
Bash the Trash
Join our virtual Bash the Trash Instrument Making Party! We have videos and how-to guides on how to turn items you would normally throw away into cool sounding instruments. Give it a try and share a video with us! Find tutorials HERE.
Track Meet
On June 21st, over the course of six hours, teams of four musicians will create brand new original tracks in a creative relay. Dallas-area musicians are invited to join. Deadline for musicians to register is June 7th. Find out more HERE.
