Performance Ear Training with Donovan Mixon
Have you ever started playing a song you thought you knew only to discover your chords were different from what everyone else was playing? Or....Lost your place while singing a song and weren’t able to find your way back? This class introduces the special study concepts of Performance Ear Training. You will learn not only what to study but HOW to study and develop a great ear. You will get to interact in realtime with Donovan and others in the class. Donovan Mixon is a composer, performing and recording artist and an educator. He has served as faculty at Berklee College of Music, won an NEA grant for jazz composition, and has released many recordings featuring prominent musicians from Boston to Milan to Istanbul. The apex of his recording career was the recording Free With Lee with the great alto saxophonist Lee Konitz. Donovan continues to work as a freelance musical artist in collaboration with some of Chicago’s finest musicians. More information can be found at donmixon.com.
