Dave Mackey

Dave Mackey has been drumming professionally in Southwest Ohio for almost 50 years. Currently playing in the Mackey Brothers Band and known for his work with Wizard, Mandolin Bridge, Lisa Biales, and Bill Littleford, Dave’s interest in gongs goes way back. In 2020, he ordered a 28 inch Paiste symphonic gong. Delivery from Germany was delayed for months by a global pandemic. Finally the gong shipped, but was lost somewhere near Chicago as citizens protested the murder of George Floyd. A sister gong was overnighted and became an instant source of healing vibrations for Dave’s friends. Today Dave will be playing his gong and other vibrational idiophones for one hour continuously as part of Make Music Day Cincinnati.
