Larry Calame
Larry Calamé, pianist If there is one thing to know about me it's that I love to play the piano. I was one of those precocious kids with perfect pitch, and I listened to and explored music from an early age. In college, I learned classical theory and jazz improvisation. In my thirties, I embarked on a career in music performance, playing in various bands and formats, but I was most at home in solo piano gigs - at restaurants, Nordstrom and at private parties. Over the years I've developed a massive repertoire (Bach to Bacharach, Broadway to Beatles - and much more), thanks to my ability to play by ear and my training. I happily take requests. At venues that lack a piano, I play on my digital piano which has a beautifully rich and expressive tone and a full set of 88 keys, but is nonetheless very compact and portable. It even runs on batteries for outdoor performances, and allows me to easily maintain just the right volume for each venue and occasion.
