Richard Reiter's Afro-Jazz Project
The Richard Reiter Afro-Jazz Project performs contemporary jazz blended with Afro-Pop influences, based on Reiter’s trip to Dakar, Senegal, where he performed saxophone and flute with Senegalese bands. Reiter, an Emmy Award winning composer, wrote all the music, which is on his album “I Hear Africa.” In Senegal, he studied African drumming. He now facilitates drum circles. Band members are: Richard Reiter: tenor and soprano saxophones, flute; Takashi Otsuka: bass; Mitch Schechter: piano; Josh Rubin: guitar; Luther Rix: drums; Yahya Kamate: African djembe drum and percussion.
