Acclaimed Washington, DC jazz guitarist Chuck Underwood makes his debut MMD appearance. Chuck Underwood is a sought-after guitarist, producer, and educator. He's recorded and performed with some of Washington, DC's most respected musicians including Marshall Keys, Ron Holloway, Jon Ozment, and Scott Ambush. He's toured as a Patti Labelle band member, performed as guest soloist with the National Symphony and worked with a diverse list of artists including James Brown, Greg Karakus, Lester Bowie and Dennis Chambers. Currently, Underwood records and performs with the eponymous Chuck Underwood Trio, the Dixie Power Trio, his own group Monkey Paw, and many other freelance groups in and around DC. Chuck's been nominated four times Best Jazz Instrumentalist by the Washington Area Music Association. The Chuck Underwood Trio's (Byron Mcwilliams on drums and Mark Lysher on acoustic bass) latest release is the cutting-edge jazz recording "Pools".
