Third Street Music School

"Paris on Hudson" is the culminating event of Third Street Music School’s new music festival, 20/21 Vision, celebrating the amazing legacy of Nadia Boulanger, the French composer and teacher who influenced an entire generation of American composers and performers. They traveled to Paris to study with her, and she made frequent trips to America as well, becoming the first woman to conduct the New York Philharmonic. Her list of pupils includes such luminaries as Aaron Copland, Quincy Jones, Elliot Carter, Phillip Glass, Burt Bacharach. One of the special things about Boulanger is that she encouraged each person to find their own unique voice and this marathon will celebrate this ideal. If you are interested in performing a piece youself, email jforsyth@thirdstreetmusicschool.org with the subject line Make Music New York. In the email, include the title and length of the selection you would like to play. If you need to do some research first, you can start by reviewing a list of Boulang
