Carand Burnet

Carand Burnet (she/her) is the leader and guitarist of the band Kioea. Founded in 2019, Kioea is named after a Hawaiian word that means “Stand Tall.” Kioea blends surf rock with characteristics of psychedelia, jazz, and global influences. Kioea's self-titled EP, released in May 2022, was selected as a "New and Notable" on Bandcamp. Editorial Director J. Edward Keyes writes, “Dazzling guitar work forms the centerpiece of the new EP from Kioea, featuring exploratory songs that hold a tight grip.” The Arts Fuse reviewer Jason M. Rubin adds, “The gently authoritative sound of leader Carand Burnet’s surf guitar takes the listener on journeys of their own, all of which feeds a desire to hear more.” Burnet has played at venues across New England including The Music Hall in Portsmouth, NH, Thing in the Spring Music Festival in Keene, NH, and was featured on WMUR’s Summer Concert Series. Burnet also performs under the name Angel Lake to compose indie music.
