Surabhi Vijay
Surabhi Vijay is a singer, performer and teacher. She specializes in Indian classical & film music, loves musical storytelling, and experimenting with cross-cultural music. She transitioned from a career in engineering to pursue music, and has since founded CarnatiCalifornia, an endeavor to popularize Carnatic music from Southern India, and make it accessible to a larger audience. She is certified in world music and music production from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. She teaches 70+ students ranging from curious 3-year olds to determined 50-year olds. Apart from classes, she conducts annual thematic musical galas including Carnatic Journeys to the West and the Carnatic x Folk Edition. She hosts workshops and interviews with leading Carnatic musicians. CarnatiCalifornia has a large online following with a YouTube viewership of 5-million+ , giving viewers engaging resources for music learning (tutorials, tips etc) and entertainment. She also acts, is an author & photographer.
