About

Make Music Springfield, Missouri is part of a free world-wide music celebration always held on Summer Solstice, June 21st. Launched in 1982 as the Fête de la Musique in France, it is now held in more than 700 cities in 103 countries. Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music Springfield, MO is open to anyone who wants to take part. Music makers of every kind — young and old, amateur and professional, all genres. And everyone is invited to sing along and enjoy the first day of summer!

2019 Marks the inaugural year for Make Music Day to be officially established in Springfield, Missouri! Make Music Springfield, MO is a live, free musical celebration on June 21, the longest day of the year, with concerts on streets, sidewalks, and parks across our fair city.

Make Music Day 2019

Schedule of Events: 

Location: School of Rock Springfield – 1658 E. Sunshine Street Springfield, MO 65807

12:00pm – 1pm – Drumset Duos â€“ We have two rooms with drum kits set up, one for our drum instructor, and another for anyone who would like to join in a spontaneous drumset duo. Participants may be receiving their first-ever, five-minute drum lesson, or they may be a seasoned professional stopping in for a drum battle – all are welcome. 

1:00pm – 2:00pm – Bucket Drumming – First 50 participants get a free pair of drum sticks, and learn basics of bucket drumming.

Location: Park Central Square, Downtown Springfield, MO

4:00-4:30pm Harmonica Mass Appeal – First 50 participants get a free harmonica and learn basic songs – Park Central Square

4:30-5:30pm Ukelele Mass Appeal – First 50 participants get a free ukulele book. Bring your own Uke and chair or towel to sit and play ukulele songs together. Location: Park Central Square

5:30- 6:30pm Guitar Mass Appeal – First 50 participants get a free guitar book. Bring your own guitar and chair or towel to sit

and play guitar songs together.

7:00-8:00pm – Hand Drumming Drum Circle – Bring your drum or borrow some of ours (limited available) and drum together. Bring your own chair or towel to sit on. Facilitation and drums provided by Resonate and Matt Richardson.
