Big Doc John
Big Doc John. Electronic Instrumental Musician. John performs electronic and acoustic music. He plays synthesizers, classical guitar, and electric bass. He composes original instrumental music, but also plays cover material in an improvisational style. John started playing piano for fun in junior high. Never being forced into formal lessons, he would spend hours sitting at the family piano entertaining himself, experimenting with tones and rhythms. In high school he picked up the bass guitar and played in several cover bands for years. He earned a PhD in experimental psychology and was a college professor for 20 years. While in graduate school, he was part of a research team studying the emotional aspects of music. Recently retired, John never lost his interest or love for music and performance. He incorporates elements of classical, jazz, blues, folk, new age, and rock into his compositions.
