Seeking Musicians and Venues for Make Music Day, York County
YORK, PA – On June 21st, 2024 York County will host the third annual official Make Music Day, an international event celebrated on the same day in more than 1,000 cities in dozens of countries around the world. Led locally by the Cultural Alliance of York County, organizers are currently seeking musicians, teachers, organizations, and venues to participate in Make Music Day. The deadline to register is June 6th.
Completely different from a typical music festival, Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician — young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion — pours onto streets, parks, plazas, and porches to share their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public. Venues/organizations and musicians register online by filling out their availability, logistic needs and musical style. After registering, participants can see the full list of all registered venues and musicians, and make requests to collaborate on an event.
Thanks to a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cultural Alliance is able to help cover the cost of paying musicians and teachers for their talents on Make Music Day.
Additional support for the event is provided by the M&T Bank Foundation, WellSpan Health, York College, Members 1st, Harley Davidson, and Explore York.
Visit www.makemusicday.org/yorkcounty to register. In 2024 all Make Music Day events will be organized through the MMD Matchmaking Website. Tutorial videos and instructions are all available on the website. Email Yorkcounty@makemusicday.org with any questions.
