Peter Madcat Ruth's C.A.R.Ma. Quartet
A2SF welcomes back Grammy Award-winning harmonica virtuoso Peter Madcat Ruth and his C.A.R.Ma. Quartet! A hometown hero who has lived in Ann Arbor since 1970, Ruth is a festival fixture. In his most recent project, Ruth (who plays the ukulele and jaw harp in addition to the harmonica) continues to explore musical strands that reverberate throughout his career: American roots music, blues, folk, and jazz, presented as an eclectic mix of traditional and improvisational music. The C.A.R.Ma. Quartet features musicians from across the musical spectrum, including Grammy Award-winning tabla drummer John Churchville; bassist Brennan Andes, a founding member of The Macpodz; and guitarist/vocalist Dan Ripke, who performed with the rock-bluegrass quintet Back Forty for 15 years before taking an exploratory dive into Indian music with the band Sumkali.
