The New Royals
The New Royals are Cincinnati's premier vintage funk band, channeling James Brown, Aretha Franklin, The Meters and contemporary artists like Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings. The nine-piece group formed in 2015 in the Queen City... the crucible of funk... the home of Bootsy Collins, King Records and some of the earliest known funk produced by the Godfather of Soul himself, James Brown. The New Royals bring sweat, soul and reverence back to the city where it all started over half a century ago.
