About

What is Make Music Ridgefield?

Make Music Day Ridgefield is an outgrowth of the Fete de la Musique, which originated in France in 1982. The event began as a call to musicians in Paris to perform on the streets on the solstice, June 21. Four decades later, the holiday has spread worldwide and is now celebrated in more than 1,000 cities in 120 countries. Seventeen years ago, the Fête de la Musique crossed the Atlantic with the debut of Make Music New York.

On June 21, 2023, 117 U.S. cities organized 4,791 free concerts. Ridgefield featured 17 venues and 71 performances with 120+ musicians. We believe this is a great way to showcase our town and the many talented and amazing people that make Ridgefield special.

Make Music Ridgefield is brought to you by the Ridgefield Arts Council as part of our mission to generate attention for Ridgefield’s vibrant arts community. We hope to inform, entertain, and inspire those who appreciate and create art in all its genres.
