Jahrel Pickens started performing around Houston at age 15, spent his 20’s traveling the U.S and stopping wherever there was a vibrant music scene: from Kansas City Jazz to Arkansas old time music to Appalachian mountain tales. He settled back in Houston in his mid 30’s and vowed to remain near family for the remainder of time. I’m his 40’s he began creating what he labels as Blues folk music, true stories from the past & present steeped in the Creole & blues of his maternal family.
