Luisana Rivas
Luisana Rivas is a Venezuelan mezzo soprano noted for her advocacy in promoting the music of Latin America. This summer, she will be performing the title role in L’enfant et les sortilèges as well as covering the role of Annina from La Traviata in Spotlight on Opera’s 15th anniversary season. Earlier this year, she collaborated with The Ponce Project of Houston to create “Canciones de Amor,” a recital of carefully curated songs of love and loss from Central and South America. In September of 2020, she was a featured performer in I Colori Dell’opera’s Latinx History Month concert series, presenting pieces from Argentina and her native country. When not singing, Luisana is a teaching artist with HGOco and enjoys doing work that uplifts communities through the arts.
